To add to my own message, if you know which manufacturer you are looking for, some manufacturers have fairly decent searchable websites that offer much information.

Β

Some examples are:

Β

SBI/Abraxa/Aardon Aardvark/MPME

The SBI karaoke website (https://beta.sbikaraoke.com/) for instance, has a very neat search feature hidden away near the bottom.

Once you narrow down your search and choose your format and version (Abraxa vs MPME vs SBI vs Aaron Aardvark, etc.), it will show the track ID information as well. So, for those manufacturers, if you know what tracks you want information for and just need their IDs, then that is also a way to do it.

Β

Karaoke Version

Similarly, Karaoke Version has a substantial amount of information on its website, and if you want to parse through its catalogue, they have an up-to-date XML file of all its available tracks (along with track IDs, etc.). I think the XML file can be downloaded from this link:

https://www.karaoke-version.com/misc/catalog/karaokeversion_catalog_en_USD.xml.zip.

Β

The list goes on. Unfortunately, uniformity in global karaoke indexing is a tougher challenge than one would expect!

Β

P.s.

Regarding the links I shared earlier, I noticed that OpenKJ seems to be indexing the newer Zoom and Sunfly tracks as opposed to iCroons and Karatrack, but does not seem to show as much (if any at all) KV stuff.

Β

Regards,

ADNA

Β

The first 2 links do not display the KVs and that is what interests me the most.

And the Version-Karaoke site only allows you to download a PDF containing only the titles without their identifiers.

The link (https://www.karaoke-version.com/misc/catalog/karaokeversion_catalog_en_USD.xml.zip) is still active.

Β

If you unzip this and open the XML file it has ALL the track information for their tracks including the IDs.

Β

Here is a snippet from the XML file of a random track:

</files>

</song>

</songs>

</artist>

Β

"

Β

The file ID is likely what you are looking for. You just need to match the version of the file you have (whether its an MP3+G, instrumental, KFN, etc.)

Note, their "rank" indicates the generic ID for the song but all versions of the song - even different formats use the same song ID so its likely better to use the file ID rather than rank as the identifier.

Hi,

I have made a start on the CHARTBUSTER albums.

Does anyone have the following tracks on Chartbuster please?

Β

Wham! - Freedom

Anita Baker - No One In The World

Anita Baker - Just Because

Anita Baker - Body & Soul

Babyface - This Is For The Lover In You

Babyface - And Our Feelings

Fuel - Shimmer

Β

**I would like the Babyface tracks from a different source than Sacot1's please, as I am trying to get them at 44100 rather than 48000 sample rate.

Hi,

Β

Here are the tracks from my collection; I checked some of them, and they appeared to be 44.1kHz. I think the Babyface ones in the batch were 48 kHz. My apologies!

Β

Out of curiosity, why are you trying to get a version with a lower sampling rate?

Β

Ultimately, according to Nyquist's Theorem, the signal message frequency when sampling 44.1k is approximately 22.05k and similarly for 48k sampling you should have recoverable artifacts up to 24k. Both should suffice for collection purposes. Typically the higher frequency range would be more desirable (unless you are sacrificing bit rate or characteristics such as dynamic range of course). Am I missing something?

Hi ADNA,

Thanks for the tracks.

Regarding 44.1kHz vs. 48kHz:

You are correct in what you say, but there is a problem with some software.

Some software players play 48K tracks at the wrong speed making the music and the lyrics drift apart.

Also, I sometimes use "MP3Diag" which can repair badly ripped or damaged MP3s, but this has the same problem, if you "fix" a damaged track that was 48kHz then it plays at the wrong speed.

It's no problem really. I just have to be careful not to break things when I am trying to fix them!

Lee.

Β

PS, I don't suppose you have CB20259 or CB20539 at 44.1kHz do you. Mine are both at 22050Hz

They both appear to be the same album by "The Wilkinsons" whoever they are"!

That is a brilliant point!

Β

Thank you for taking the time to explain. I wonder if downsampling the 48k version to 44.1k manually will solve the issue?

Β

I assume it plays about 8.8% faster since the time domain components are affected by the higher sampling rate (since the sample indices and timecode synchronisation will thus be thrown off if the MP3 sampling rate differs from the CDG sample indices)...

Β

Hope you manage to find the Babyface tracks in 44.1k!

Β

I just checked, and for both the CB albums you mentioned, I also only have in 22k, unfortunately!

Thanks ADNA.

I could re-sample the tracks but as far as I know, it may downgrade the quality somewhat, especially if you are working with a 128KBPS track.

This may be debatable? I will leave them for now.......

Downsampling will definitely remove the higher frequency components, which in this case you want to do - that technically counts as degradation.

Β

As you mentioned, there is a risk of resampling artifacts being introduced since this is a deleterious process with lossy formats and it's typically worse at lower bitrates (most advanced algorithms do a good job of avoiding significant artifacts though).

Β

It likely won't be a noticeable degradation, aside from the HF components you are losing above 22.05kHz for that song. However, things can go wrong during the encoding process and so your hesitation is understandable. Maybe someone has a version that was originally ripped with a sampling frequency of 44.1k.

Β

I noticed the two albums you mentioned are awkwardly the same in my collection despite having different numbers too. Unfortunately mine are also sampled at 22.05kHz. Sorry!

This is the YouTube original with on-screen lyrics, I'm certain that

somebody here can remove the vocal :)
